Residence at 21st Ave

Collaborating with my close friend Rob Ungar at Sage and Bay, we shaped this garden retreat as a lush, intimate escape for the resident and his dog. The deck extends directly from the primary bedroom, with shaded seating and a seamless connection to the hot tub. Across the garden, a sunken lounge is carved into a concrete retaining wall, forming a cool microclimate wrapped in vegetation. The Japanese‑inspired deck floats above the landscape, and more than 500 square feet of salvaged concrete was repurposed as pavers, grounding the space in a warm, sustainable material palette. Throughout the project, layered plantings, filtered shade, and enclosure create a sanctuary for the chaos of life.
